Prior to founding Excelsior Editorial Consulting in 2000, Carolyn E. Kourofsky was a grant writer and development officer for such non-profit organizations as the National Kidney Foundation of Upstate New York, Rochester Institute of Technology, Strong National Museum of Play, and Rochester General Hospital Foundation. Her grant writing and fund raising expertise resulted in millions of dollars in funding.

Today her work for corporate and non-profit clients ranges from annual reports, newsletters and website content to ghostwriting books and speeches.

When she isn't turning out fabulous stuff for clients she's writing fun stuff that has garnered publication in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, performance of her Dance Mystery Theatre piece Death by Paso Doble, and a trip to Hollywood for her screenwriting debut, which placied first in Vanity Fair/Veuve Clicquot's “La Grande Dame Makes a Scene” contest.

Her interest in wine has led to attaining the Wine & Spirit Education Trust Advanced certification exam and Certified Specialist in Wine from the Society of Wine Educators. She's also National Director for Web/Newsletter Content for Women for WineSense and edits the newsletter of the Rochester Chapter, one of the organization's most active chapters.

She's a graduate of St. Lawrence University with a BA in English/Writing, and of the Goddard Program at Vermont College with an MFA in Writing.
